How to add a schedule dependency
Set up predecessor/successor relationships between tasks, including Finish-to-Start logic and lag days.
Who can do this
Admins and Project Managers can add and edit dependencies.
What a dependency does
A dependency links one task (the predecessor) to another (the successor) so that when the predecessor's dates change, the successor's dates automatically adjust to match.
Steps
- 1Open the Schedule tab for the project.
- 2Select the task that should depend on another.
- 3Choose the predecessor task it depends on.
- 4Pick the relationship type — most commonly Finish-to-Start (FS), meaning the successor starts after the predecessor finishes.
- 5Add lag days if there should be a gap between the two (for example, drywall mud needing a day to dry before paint starts).
- 6Save the dependency.
Other relationship types
Besides Finish-to-Start, Doxlair also supports Finish-to-Finish, Start-to-Start, and Start-to-Finish relationships for less common sequencing needs.
